WOO! You've spent many months training and your event is just weeks away! Let me officially welcome you to "Taper Town" - a critical time in your training in which you cut your miles down to a minimum.  Why?  Because, even though it seems counter-intuitive, allowing your body to rest can help you gain speed, strength and stamina for your race. I'm not saying sitting still is easy, but here are a few tips to make your taper time a success.

Run a one-mile loop - yes, the same one-mile loop – 26 times.

That was how I chose to spend my Saturday, November 9, 2013 at my first NJ Trail Series “One Day” event – literally running… in circles.  To the uninitiated, it may sound a little nutty.  But, like any endurance athlete, I justified what I deemed true “loopy-ness” - I planned to only orbit 26 times, some signed for a 12 or 24-hour spin cycle.

Building self-confidence is like building muscle; both keep us fit and functioning fabulously in mind, body and spirit.

One way I’ve found to build self-confidence is to challenge myself by trying something outside my comfort zone.
