Healthy Recipe Green Beans October 29 2015

Looking for a flavorful, and fun to make, vegetable dish for Thanksgiving?  My mom and I made the Fresh Green Beans with Mustard Seeds and Cashews a few years back and enjoyed every minute.
 
What You’ll Need:
  • Canola Oil – 2 tablespoons
  • Mustard Seeds – 1 teaspoon
  • Diced Cashews – 2 tablespoons
  • Fresh Green Beans – 1 to 1 ½ lbs
  • Red Pepper Flakes and Salt – to taste
 
What You’ll Do:
  • Heat the 2 tablespoons of Canola Oil in a large skillet over medium heat
  • Add the Mustard Seeds to the heated oil and COVER THE PAN**
    • (When my mother and I made this, we failed to cover the pan… When the seeds started to “pop”, they propelled across the kitchen.  Once we stopped laughing, and taking cover, we moved on to step #3)
  • When the Mustard Seeds start to pop, add in the Cashews
  • Toast the Cashews and add in the Green Beans
  • Stir and after 2 minutes, add in the Salt and Red Pepper Flakes to taste
  • Cook another 7 to 10 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the Green Beans are cooked throughout
  • Enjoy!
